Celebrate life!

My living room is a fort of tents.

 My kitchen is a school room.

My bedroom is a haven of lovies, kleenex,

tiny shoes and drink cups.
I look around the house

&

I am THANKFUL

for the change that has happened to move my

house to A HOME.

Six years ago today,

The Lord blessed our family of 3 to a family of 4.

After fertility treatment and years of loss,

followed by complete surrender to God's timing,

our GREAT and AWESOME God brought
fourth the life of our son!
He grants the barren woman a home,
Like a joyful mother of children. 

Praise the Lord!

Today we celebrate the six amazing years of Brenon's life.

Our hearts are full of gratitude,

God is SO good.

Birthday celebrations

This month we will be celebrating my husband's birthday and a
monumental one at that! Several of my friends (and myself) will also
be reaching this milestone sooner than we might like to admit. This
has sparked many discussions on how we would like to celebrate this
occasion. I heard one of my friends comment that 'it's just another
day'. While this is in a sense true and I am sure this mentality might help lessen the blow of the number of years if you just don't focus much attention on it.

However, I LOVE birthdays...they hold a special meaning to me. This is the day that God
breathed life into you! It is certainly not just another day.

I will praise You, for I am fearfully  and  wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works, And  that  my soul knows very well. (Psalm
139:14 NKJV)

So in trying to come up with something special for my sweet husband, I
went through a long list of his favorite things. What I kept coming
back to was his love language.
What speaks to him most is acts of service!
So I decided starting May 1st that I would do 40 days of service
geared towards things that I knew HE (not me) would appreciate. I
started this venture with cleaning the garage- since this is his
domain. The next day I cleaned out our 'mail drop' and junk drawer.
This is the area where we land all this bills, mail, kids papers from
school, etc.  This area becomes cluttered quickly and tends to be an
eyesore for him. Today, I am serving his comfort- I am off to find a
firm pillow!
I will add to the list as the month goes on... But I can tell you that
in doing this just for the past few days, it has opened my eyes to be
focused more on his needs (and the needs of others) rather than my own.

Who is on your list?

It is Sunday afternoon after church and we have a full afternoon planned.  I thought it would be a great idea to make things easy and pick up a pizza on the way home.  As I sit and wait for our pizza to be cooked, I sit and people watch (and listen). 
During the 5 minutes that I wait for my pizza, I see several people come in and out and pick up their orders.  I see the delivery guy run in, pick up more pizzas, and run back out.  I see a family sitting and enjoying their pizza together.  Then the phone rings, the cashier apologies repeatedly, explaning the reason for the late delivery. Silence.  A young girl trying to calm an angry customer.  I see her get off the phone and obviously bothered, excuse herself to the back of the store.
This scene gets me thinking...
As I get back into the car, I share the story with my kids.  I ask them to think of people that work in Thankless jobs.  My kids get very excited and come up with a plan to honor our mailman and our garbage delivery man.  As soon as we get home, they forget about the pizza and begin coloring pictures and cards. 

It is at this time of year, that it is easy to show appreciation for our teachers, friends, and family.  Try something different. Look outside your circle and honor someone unexpectedly! You might be surprised at the gift you receive in return!
