Bucket list

Wake up call at 4:30am, drive on a dark bumpy road through the middle of the Serengeti in the dark to the top of a ridge.  Get out of the land cruiser to the sight of several hot air balloons being inflated.
This was the start of our day to a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti National Park.

One word: surreal
sunrise is beautiful in itself, combined with being in the Serengeti was amazing!

We arrived at the hilltop and met with our captain.  He instructed us on the side entry to the basket and how to clamp into the basket.  I have to admit, my nerves were at an all time high.  I was anxious and my fear of heights didn't help the matter.  However, once we got into the basket, take off was very smooth.  We cruised at 10-20 feet off the ground in order to better visualize the wild life below.

The entire ride was smooth and the view was breathtaking. Once we landed the balloon in the middle of the park, we had a breakfast in the middle of the field in the midst of the zebras, buffalo, lions, and other wildlife.

It was an experience I will never forget.
